Chiang Mai Women’s Correctional Institute

The Chiang Mai Women’s Correctional Institute is a full working prison who’s aim is to rehabilitate inmates so that they leave in a better position than when they arrived.

What makes this prison different is its approach to rehabilitation. Inmates are trained in waiting, sales and massaging skills to help them transition into paid work after their sentence.

Tips (POI):

If you are here to have a massage then it’s best to arrive early to avoid disappointment. We suggest before 10:00 to give yourselves the best chance of getting a slot, which may mean having to leave and return later in the afternoon.

This is a great way to positively contribute to Chiang Mai during your visit while benefiting from great food and drinks or a relaxing massage. Please remember that it’s purpose is to help these women move forward in their lives and set them up for a better future, this means no unnecessary staring, questions or photos.
